I LOVE granola and I bought so much of it throughout the years. Recently, it’s getting harder and harder to find GFVG crunchy homemade granola style in our organic food store. I keep checking the ingredients list and I keep reading: ‘rice syrup’ or ‘vanilla flour’ or ‘sunflower oil’. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and come up with my own granola recipe with organic ingredients that are healthy and delicious. It took me a couple of tries to come up with the right measurements and the perfect crunchy texture.
I will note that to this recipe you can substitute your favourite nuts, dried fruits and seeds or add additional sweetness like cacao nibs or white chocolate. When it comes to toppings – you can add any fresh fruit you have, organic coconut yogurt or simple enjoy it with your favourite nut mylk.
Now, let’s dive into my crunchy homemade granola base.

Crunchy, healthy and delicious granola recipe – just 4 main ingredients required!
3 cups GF whole oats
1 cup pecan nuts (roughly chopped)
1 tbsp chai seeds
2 tbsp coconut flakes (roughly chopped)
1 tbsp coconut oil (melted)
1 tbsp turmeric powder
1/2 tbsp fresh orange zest
juice from 1 orange
pinch of salt
1/2 cup maple syrup
- Mix all the ingredients above in a big bowl, adding the maple syrup last.
- Transfer the granola mixture to a non stick baking sheet and spread evenly. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown at 180C (356F).
- Let it cool before serving.
- You can store the granola in a glass jar up to 1 week – no need to refrigerate.
