When summer temperatures hit a soaring 30 degrees, the best decision you can make is have a heathy cold green juice for breakfast. Sticking to seasonal fruits and vegetables is a great way to ensure you get the best flavour – and don’t forget to shop them locally. My rule of thumb when it comes to making juices and smoothies is buy organic locally grown produce.
I have been experimenting with juicing and making smoothies for a while now and I found the best combination. Bonus, you will find the required fruits and vegetables for this juice all year round. You can also turn this juice combo into a smoothie by adding 1 cup of coconut water or nut milk.
Here’s what you will need to make this green juice for breakfast.

If you don’t have a juicer, throw all the ingredients below into a blender, add 1 cup of coconut water and voila – breakfast is served in less than 5 minutes.
4 stalks of celery
1 romaine lettuce head
1 sweet apple of your choice (no need to peel)
1 thumb size fresh ginger piece (no need to peel)
1 cup of fresh parsley
1/2 lemon (peeled)
- Start running the parsley and romaine salad through your juicer, then 2 stalks of celery. Add your lemon, apple and ginger. Lastly, add your last 2 stalks of celery.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy.
- Although I buy organic produce, I soak all my fruits and veggies for about 20 mins in a white vinegar, water and salt bath to remove all the bugs.
