This post will reveal a top secret beach in Constanta that will make your jaw drop, book a flight and enjoy the white sand, blue water paradise.
First, let’s put Constanta on the map. Constanța is a city on the shores of the Black Sea, in southeastern Romania. Constanta lies on the western coast of the Black Sea, 185 miles north of Istanbul and Bosphorus Strait (Turkey) and 99 miles north of Varna (Bulgaria).
Where do most tourist book?
Litoralul Mamaia (also known as the steroid beach) is known to receive more than 10,000 tourist each summer. A number of accommodation options: from beach front hotels to luxurious condos and villas can be booked. But if you are looking for the ultimate local experience, paying half the rates and enjoying a lot more room and activities then read on.
Which beach do locals choose?
Top secret beach known only among locals (myself included) is hiding between historical museums, a Greek Orthodox Church, local shops, markets and loads of local restaurants. It’s called Plaja Modern. What can you expect? No pesky weirdos walking around trying to sell you everything under the moon. White sand beach and depending on the tide, crystal blue water. The beach is massive, so you will have plenty privacy. There are a number of activities you can do (kite surfing, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, fishing, …) Bonus, everything is a lot cheaper than Mamaia.
Secondly, take a late evening 10 min walk down to the Casino from the Modern beach. It’s quite magical!
